“Sandhill and Son” is a playful nod to the classic TV show “Sanford and Son,” capturing two majestic sandhill cranes near Kelderhouse Swamp in Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. The larger sandhill crane, with its striking reddish-brown plumage, stands proudly in a vibrant field of green, while its offspring follows closely behind. The soft focus of the background, featuring a tranquil woodland scene, draws attention to the pair, creating a moment of serenity in nature.
Taken near the historic Kelderhouse Farm, this photograph is a perfect representation of the natural beauty and wildlife of the Sleeping Bear Dunes area. The sandhill cranes are often seen in the park, and this particular image captures their grace and presence as they move through the open fields.
